If you are a COO or CEO, I am sure you have the best interested of your business at heart. The problem is you have to wear a lot of hats, make key decisions and often delegate.

❓ Are you making mental health a priority?

Addressing, supporting and upskilling you workforce around mental health within your workplace is fundamental.

This often gets delegated to HR (who also have many hats), mangers (who need skills and confidence in having these types of conversations), or gets diluted through the workplace.

If you are a CEO reading this, please consider the following:

✅ Model from the top with good behaviours around mental health and wellbeing – If you answer work calls at the weekend, you set a president for others to do so (set a email signature saying why you are working out of hours)

✅ Wellbeing weeks and yoga are a start, but not enough

✅ Employment Assistants Programmes are there for support, this does not mean you have done wellbeing

✅ If you delegate the wellbeing agenda, put your money where your mouth is and back this up with a budget

✅ Invest in good mental health awareness training for managers, teams and the whole organisations

✅ Measure what you are doing

Upskill your workforce at all levels, help develop a positive workplace culture and good behaviours, and measure what you are doing.
